If you're like me, you like to try new recipes and new foods. You also like to have recipes for the foods that you grew up with, the recipes that your Mother used. You like recipes that are fairly easy to prepare and give you a wide variety of foods at each meal. Nobody I know is happy to eat the same foods day after day for very long. Variety is truly the spice of life!

Shoebox Recipes is a family recipe collection that has been gathered over the many decades of my Mother's lifetime, as well as those that I have collected and added to it. The original collection long ago outgrew the old wooden recipe box that it had originally started out in and found its way into an old shoe box that could comfortably hold all of the recipe cards. I still have that old wooden recipe box! Many of the recipes have made their way onto these pages and as time goes on many more will join those that are already here. I hope that you will enjoy cooking and eating these treats as much as I always have.

Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately depending on your point of view, this collection of recipes is not very evenly spread among the categories. At a glance, I seem to have more cakes, chocolate cakes, cookies, pies and other desserts than anything else. The yummy stuff is in great abundance! But there is still a wonderful variety to choose from and lots of food for you to be cooking even if you are on a diet! There are also many recipes for breads, meats, salads, vegetables, casseroles, soups and snacks - with more to come.

Shoebox Recipes was first launched on March 19, 2000 at Terrashare. Later it was moved to another free host and it eventually came to its present home in February 2002. It is and always has been a labor of love.
