Apple Cake
Ingredients
1 cup quick oats
2/3 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
2/3 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 cup butter or margarine, cut in pieces
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup apple juice
1 can (1 lb. 5 oz.) apple pie filling
powdered sugar
whipped cream
Directions
Combine the oats, flour, sugar, allspice and nutmeg in a large mixing bowl. Add the butter and mix until crumbly. Mix in the chopped walnuts. Press half of this mixture into an 8-inch square baking pan. Mix the apple juice with the apple pie filling. Spoon over the mixture in the baking pan. Top the apple mixture with the remaining crumbly mixture.
Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until browned and juices are bubbling. Cool slightly on a wire rack, then sprinkle the top with powdered sugar. Cut into pieces and serve topped with whipped cream.
