Avocado Loaf Cake

Ingredients
3/4 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1/3 cup cocoa
3/4 tsp. allspice
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. salt
1-1/2 tsp. baking soda
1-1/2 cups mashed avocado
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
3/4 cup raisins

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cream the shortening, while adding the sugar slowly, and beating until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well. Sift the dry ingredients together, reserving 1/4 cup of the dry mixture to mix with fruit and nuts. Fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture along with the mashed avocado and buttermilk. Mix the remaining dry ingredient mixture with the fruit and nuts and then stir the fruit and nuts into the batter.

Grease and line two loaf pans with brown paper. Pour in the batter and bake at 350 degrees for one hour and 5 minutes.
