Bride's Icing

3 tbsp. flour
1 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Place the flour in a saucepan over medium heat. Slowly add the milk while stirring well to dissolve lumps. Cook over medium heat until the mixture becomes thick. Remove from heat and cool.

In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and vegetable shortening. Add the sugar while beating until the sugar is totally dissolved. The mixture should be creamy and smooth. Add the vanilla, then add the cooled flour and milk mixture. Beat until very smooth.
