Chili Burgers

Ingredients
1 lb. ground round
1/2 cup diced tomato
2 tbsp. chopped green onion
2 tbsp. chopped green pepper
1 canned hot green chili pepper, seeded and chopped
1/4 tsp. oregano
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. bread crumbs
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. chili powder
tortillas
4 green pepper rings
shredded lettuce, romaine or your choice
refried beans

Directions
Combine the tomato, green onion, green pepper, oregano and 1/8 teaspoon salt in a small mixing bowl. Chill.

Mix the ground round with the hot green chili pepper, bread crumbs, egg, 1 teaspoon salt, pepper and chili powder. Shape into 4 equally sized patties. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet. Fry the burger patties over medium heat for 4 minutes per side, or until done to your taste. Alternately, you can broil them 5 inches from the heat, turning once.

Heat 4 tortillas per directions given on the package. Top each tortilla with shredded lettuce, a hamburger patty and a green pepper ring. Spoon the chilled tomato mixture over the top and serve with refried beans.
