Chocolate Cake with Dark Beer
Ingredients
1 cup dark lager beer
1-1/4 sticks butter
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup cocoa powder
2 eggs
1/4 cup sour cream
1 tbsp. vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
2-1/2 tsp. baking soda
Directions
Combine the beer and butter in a saucepan and heat until the butter melts. Remove from heat and allow to cool until warm. Whisk in the sugar and cocoa.
In a large bowl, mix the eggs, sour cream and vanilla. Add the beer and cocoa mixture. Add the flour and baking soda and whisk until smooth. Transfer batter to a 9x13-inch baking pan.
Bake at 350 degrees until the cake has risen and is firm.
Cream Cheese Frosting
Ingredients
1-1/4 cup powdered sugar
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions
Sift the powdered sugar and mix thoroughly with the softened cream cheese. Add the heavy cream and vanilla. Continue mixing until smooth. Spread the frosting over the top of the cooled cake and serve.
