Cinnamon Buns

Ingredients
1 cup bread sponge
1/4 cup melted butter
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2-1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup raisins

Directions
Add shortening, sugar and salt to sponge. Beat well and knead with flour to make a stiff dough. Knead dough until it becomes elastic and place where warm for one hour, or until double in size.

Shape into an oblong sheet 1/2 inch thick. Spread with butter and sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon and 1 cup raisins. Press in raisins with a rolling pin and roll like a jelly roll. Cut in slices 1 inch wide and place flat on a greased baking sheet. Dot with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Make a syrup of 1 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water and boil until the thread stage. Pour hot syrup over the raised buns and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.
