Frequently Asked Questions
Maybe these questions have not actually been asked, but some of you may have wondered about them.
Can I print a recipe?
Certainly. To print the entire page simply go to "File" then click on "Print" in your browser. To print only the recipe, first highlight it by placing your mouse at the start of the text that you want to print, click and drag the mouse to the end of the text. Once you have highlighted the text that you want, right click and then click on "Print". This will display a printer control box. In the printer control box click on "Selection" then click on "Print".
Can I e-mail a recipe to someone?
Of course! You can e-mail the page or - better yet - just e-mail a link to the page. To do this go to "File" then click on "Send". This will give you two e-mail choices: "Page by E-mail" and "Link by E-mail". Choose the one that you prefer. Do note that if you send the page it creates a much larger e-mail than if you only send the link to the page.
Why aren't there any photographs of the food in the recipes?
Simply because I've never taken any photos. I currently do not have plans to take photos but that could change in the future. My crystal ball broke many years ago.
Can I link to this site?
Please do! I'd be very flattered. Tell all of your friends too! If you link to the home page which is http://www.shoeboxrecipes.com/ you can be assured that URL will always be constant and available. It is unlikely that the URLs for other pages will be changed again although that has happened in the past. Do feel free to link to them if you wish.
Do you really keep your recipes in a shoe box?
As funny as it may sound, yes! I have several commercially made recipe boxes but none are large enough to contain this collection. In fact, I am currently using two shoe boxes. What brand? Not that it matters, but one box is from Reebok and the other is unmarked. The original shoe box was most likely from Naturalizer but it fell apart several years ago.
Do you ever send unsolicited e-mail?
Absolutely never. I would consider that to be spam e-mail and I personally detest spam e-mail. I'm sure that you do as well.
Do you collect any information about a visitor?
Nothing beyond how someone found this site, which pages were viewed, and how many folks dropped by in a month. Simply a matter of curiosity and not a thing is done with it. I've no way to know who visited which page nor anything else about you. See my Privacy Policy for further information.
How do I find my way around this site?
On each page you will see links to the major sections of this site. On those pages you will find listings of the individual items contained in that section. Also, near the top of each page is what is known as a "bread crumb trail" which can help you determine your current location. Each recipe page has a link to the "previous" recipe, the "next" recipe and a link "up" to its section page. Please note that you might need to have javascript enabled in your browser for some of the navigation to function properly.
The site has been redesigned since I was last here. Why?
Periodically changes need to be made. Some reasons are:
- Making navigation easier for you to find what you are looking for.
- Making the pages lighter so that they load in your browser faster.
- Giving the site a pleasant appearance.
- Making the site easier for me to manage.
- Making the site easier for the search engines to index so that you can find this site in the first place. :-)
- And because I feel it's time for a fresh look. I use this site quite extensively when I'm cooking and after time it needs a "new do".
