Fried Okra

fresh Okra, quantity as needed
cornmeal, enough to coat the okra
chopped onion, quantity as needed
salt to taste
coarse black pepper to taste

Directions
Wash and slice the okra into 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick slices. Place the okra in a bowl, add salt, pepper and coat with cornmeal.

Put the coated okra in a skillet with hot oil. Cover and cook until browned, turn over and add chopped onions on top. Cover and cook again until brown. Turn as often as needed to brown as desired.
