Funnel Cakes

Ingredients
Cooking oil
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2/3 cup milk
1 egg, beaten
powdered sugar

Directions
Heat cooking oil in a deep fryer to 350 degrees.

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a mixing bowl. Make a well in the center and pour in milk and beaten egg. Stir until batter is smooth.

Pour 1/2 cup of the batter into the hot oil using a funnel with a 5/8-inch opening. Swirl the batter as it falls in a circle. Fry, turning once, until golden brown (about 2 minutes on each side). Drain well and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
