Hazelnut Crescents (Kifli)
Ingredients
1 cup butter, at room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup finely chopped hazelnuts (filberts)
confectioners' sugar
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in the flour, half a cup at a time. When well mixed, stir in the finely chopped nuts. Form the dough into 1/4-inch thick crescents, using about 2 teaspoonfuls of dough for each cookie, and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 15 minutes or until the cookies just begin to brown at the edges. Remove from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. While still warm, roll the cookies in confectioners' sugar and place on wire racks to cool completely. Makes about 52 cookies.
