Angel Hash

1 can (1 lb.) crushed pineapple, drain and save juice
1 can (1 lb.) fruit cocktail, drain and save juice
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 cup sugar
2 egg yolks, beaten
1 cup heavy cream, whipped
1/4 cup walnuts or pecans
2 cups miniature marshmallows
2 bananas, sliced (optional)

Combine cornstarch and sugar, mix well. Combine egg yolks and 1 cup of the juice from the fruits, blend well. Add egg yolk mixture to the sugar mixture. Mix and stir over medium heat until it boils and thickens. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature. Fold in whipped cream, then add nuts, marshmallows, pineapple and fruit cocktail. Chill overnight. Just before serving add sliced bananas if desired. Spoon onto lettuce for a salad or into dessert dishes to be served with butter cookies.
