Barbecued Pink Beans

Ingredients
1 lb. pink or pinto beans
1 qt. water
2 tbsp. oil
4 onions, chopped fine
3 green peppers, chopped fine
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 tsp. rosemary
1/4 tsp. oregano
2 tsp. chili powder
4-1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 can (1 lb 12 oz.) tomatoes

Directions
Sort beans to remove any foreign material. Place beans in a 4 quart pan with the water. Cover and bring to a boil. Boil gently for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand for 1 hour.

Saute the onions, peppers and garlic in oil until golden. Add the beans with all the remaining ingredients and mix well. Cover and simmer for 3 hours or until the beans are tender.
