Home baked bread is great for making sandwiches or to serve with any meal.

Bread

Ingredients
3-1/2 to 3-3/4 cups flour
1 tbsp. coarse salt
1 oz. cake of yeast
1 tbsp. sugar
1-1/4 cup warm water

Directions
Cream yeast with sugar and then add 1/2 cup warm water. Let proof then add another 3/4 cup warm water. Make a well in the flour and pour in yeast mixture. Mix with a wooden spoon or your hands until the dough leaves the sides of the bowl clean. Turn onto a floured board and knead well. When it is no longer sticky, place in a buttered bowl, cover with a cloth and let rise until doubled.

Punch down and knead for 3 to 4 minutes. Form a loaf and place in a well buttered pan. Let rise for 45 minutes.

Bake at 400 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes.
