Butter Pecan Turtle Cookies

Crust

2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1-1/2 cups pecan halves

Topping

2/3 cup butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate pieces

Combine flour, brown sugar and butter. Beat at medium speed for 2 to 3 minutes. Press into an ungreased 13x9 inch baking pan. Pat pecans evenly into unbaked crust. For topping: In a small heavy saucepan combine butter and brown sugar. Cook over medium heat until mixture begins to boil. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Pour over crust.

Bake in center of preheated 350 degree oven for 18 to 22 minutes or until topping is bubbly and crust is light golden brown. Remove from oven. Sprinkle on chocolate pieces, do not spread. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
