Calico Cream Bars

1/3 cup butter
3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup wheat germ
2/3 cup coarsely chopped nuts
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup coconut
1/2 cup coarsely chopped multicolored plain chocolate candies

Melt butter in a 13x9 inch baking pan in a 350 degree oven for 5 minutes or until melted. Combine cracker crumbs and wheat germ, mixing well. Reserve 1/2 cup. Combine remaining crumbs and 1/3 cup chopped nuts with butter in pan and mix well. Lightly press mixture evenly in pan. Drizzle 1/2 of the milk over the crumb base within 1/2 inch from the edge. Combine reserved 1/2 cup of crumb mixture, 1/3 cup nuts and coconut and sprinkle half of crumb mixture evenly over the milk. Repeat layering with remaining milk and crumb mixture. Sprinkle candies evenly over crumb mixture and press in lightly.

Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool thoroughly, cut in bars.
