Cheese Wafers
1 cup sifted flour 1/4 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper (or paprika) 1/2 cup butter 1 cup grated cheddar cheese 3 tbsp. cold water walnut pieces
Combine dry ingredients. Cut in butter until crumbly. Blend in cheese. Add water to hold mixture together. Shape into 2 rolls. Wrap in waxed paper and chill overnight.
With a sharp knife, cut into slices 1/4” thick. Place a walnut piece on top. Bake on well greased pans at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
