Custardy Corn Bread

Ingredients
3/4 cup white cornmeal
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1 to 2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 cups plus 2 tbsp. milk
1 egg, well beaten
2 tbsp. butter

Directions
Mix together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Add 1 cup milk and the egg. Mix only until all of the mixture is damp.

Melt butter in 8-inch square pan in a 400 degree oven, then pour in the mixture. Pour the remaining milk over the top (do not stir).

Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.
