Demon Cake
Ingredients
4 squares baking chocolate
1 cup butter
2-1/4 cup sugar
1-1/2 cup buttermilk or sour milk
3 cup cake flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
5 eggs, separated
Directions
Cream the butter and sugar together. Beat the egg yolks.
Melt the baking chocolate over simmering water and add to the butter and sugar mixture. Cream together until well mixed.
Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together. Alternately add the milk and the flour mixture to the chocolate mixture, then add the well beaten egg yolks.
Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold in the egg whites and the vanilla. Pour the batter into three well greased and floured 9-inch cake pans.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Assemble with thick white or chocolate frosting.
