Easy Wheat Biscuits

Ingredients
1 cup warm water
1 package dry yeast
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup wheat germ
1 egg
3 tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
1-1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1-1/4 to 1-3/4 cup white flour

Directions
In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar in warm water. Let stand until yeast starts to bubble.

Add brown sugar, salt, wheat germ, egg, butter and whole wheat flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in enough of the white flour to make a dough that is easy to handle. Place the dough in a greased bowl and let rise in a warm, draft-free area until it has doubled in bulk (about 1-1/2 hours).

Punch down dough with greased hands. Pinch off bits of dough and shape into balls about 1-1/2 inches in diameter (about 24 balls). Arrange the balls in two well greased round cake pans. Cover pans and let dough rise until it has doubled in bulk (about 45 minutes).

Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes, or until browned.
