Electric Skillet Cake

Ingredients
1 package cake mix, any flavor
shortening
flour

Directions
Place the lid on the electric skillet and close the vent. Preheat the skillet to 280 degrees while mixing the cake batter.

Using any packaged cake mix, follow the directions on the package to prepare the batter.

When the electric skillet has reached 280 degrees, grease it well using a pastry brush then sprinkle lightly with flour. Brush the flour and shortening mixture over the cooking surface.

Pour the batter into the skillet. Cover and bake until the top of the cake is no longer moist, about 35 minutes. Open the vent in the lid for the last 5 minutes of baking.

Loosen the cake well around the edges with a spatula. Invert the cake onto a cake cooling rack. Let stand for a few minutes before removing the skillet. Allow to cool. If desired the cake can be cut in half and frosted.
