Pecan Pie Surprise Bars

1 pkg. Yellow cake mix
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 egg
1 cup chopped pecans for over topping

Filling

2/3 cup cake mix
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3 eggs
1-1/2 cups dark corn syrup
1 tsp. vanilla

Generously grease bottom and sides of a 13x9 inch deep baking pan. Reserving 2/3 cup of the cake mix for topping, mix remaining dry cake mix, butter and 1 egg until crumbly. Press into prepared pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.

Beat filling ingredients using an electric mixer at medium speed for 1 to 2 minutes. Pour over lightly browned cake crust. Sprinkle on pecans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes more. Cool and cut into 36 bars.
