This is an entire meal for six except for a dessert. The plate consists of seasoned sirloin steak served with cauliflower, sweetened baked oranges & sweet potatoes, and a salad made of slices of tomato & cucumber on a lettuce leaf garnished with mayonnaise.
Sirloin Grill Plate
Ingredients
2-1/2 lbs. sirloin steak
6 sweet potatoes
4 tomatoes, sliced
lettuce
2 tsp. salt
8 tbsp. butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1 small cauliflower
3 oranges
1 cucumber, sliced
mayonnaise
1 tsp. pepper
2 tbsp. mustard
2 tbsp. flour
paprika
Directions
- Cut steak for individual servings. Spread with mustard, sprinkle with salt, pepper and flour. Broil or fry until tender.
- Break cauliflower into flowerettes and cook in salted water until tender. Serve with four tablespoons butter poured over it.
- Wash and slice potatoes, then cook for 10 minutes in a kettle. Remove from kettle, dip in melted butter, then place in a well buttered baking dish.
- Peel oranges and cut in slices. Arrange in baking dish with potatoes.
- Cook sugar and water together for 3 minutes and pour while hot over potatoes and oranges.
- Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown and potatoes are tender.
- Slice tomatoes and cucumbers. Arrange 2 slices of tomato with three slices of cucumber on each lettuce leaf, making 6 servings.
- Chill salad. Serve the meat, potatoes, orange slices, cauliflower and salad all on one dinner plate. Put a pat of butter on potatoes and meat and garnish salad with mayonnaise. Sprinkle paprika over all and serve. Serves 6.
