Surprise Apple Pudding

1-1/2 cups sour cream
1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1 can (1 lb. 4 oz.) sliced apples
2 tbsp. butter or margarine
1/3 cup white sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 cup sifted flour
1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
3/4 cup milk

Blend dark brown sugar and sour cream, then set aside.

Spread apples evenly in a greased 9-inch square baking pan.

Cream together butter and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg then beat well. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Spread evenly over apples. Pour over sour cream mixture.

Bake at 375 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes. Serves 9.
