Swedish Rye Bread

Ingredients
1 cup molasses
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 tbsp. salt
2 tbsp. grated orange peel
2 1/2 cups warm water
1 or 2 cakes yeast
1 tbsp. anise seed or caraway
4 cups rye flour
5 cups white flour

Directions
Soften yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Mix all ingredients together except white flour. Add softened yeast. Work in white flour by spoon then by hands until dough no longer is sticky. Put in a warm place to rise.

Punch down and make loaves. Let rise again and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
