Tomato Steak

Ingredients
3 tbsp. fat
2 1/2 lb round steak, 2 inches thick
1 large onion, finely chopped
3 carrots, finely chopped
1 can peas
2 cups canned tomatoes
2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper

Directions
Heat fat, add meat and sear until brown on all sides. Arrange in casserole and cover with onion, carrots, peas, tomatoes, salt and pepper.

Cover tightly and bake in a slow oven for 3 hours. Gravy may be thickened if desired.
