Walnut Cake

Ingredients
1/3 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 egg yolks, beaten
1-3/4 cups flour
2-3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup milk
3/4 cup walnuts, broken
2 egg whites

Directions
Cream together the butter and 1/2 cup of sugar until fluffy. Add the beaten egg yolks.

Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together. Add alternately to the creamed mixture with the milk. Add the broken walnut meats then beat the mixture until evenly combined.

Using an electric mixer, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gradually beat in the remaining 1/2 cup sugar. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the cake mixture. Pour the mixture into a greased and paper lined tube cake pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until the cake tests done. Remove the cake from the pan, cool then cover with frosting.
