Oven Barbecued Spareribs

Ingredients
4 lbs. spareribs
1 onion, grated
1 cup catsup
1-1/4 cup cider or water
1/2 cup vinegar
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. chili powder (optional)
generous dash of cayenne or Tabasco sauce
1 tsp. dry mustard

Directions
Cut spareribs into serving size pieces. Place meaty side up in a single layer in a large shallow baking pan.

Roast at 450 degrees for 30 minutes. Drain off fat. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over ribs. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees and continue roasting for 1 hour. Serves 4 to 6.
