Southern Biscuits

Ingredients
1 quart flour
6 tsp. baking powder
3/4 to 1 tsp. baking soda
1-1/2 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. shortening
1-1/4 to 1-1/2 cups buttermilk

Directions
Sift the dry ingredients together. Cut in the shortening then add the milk. Mix well.

Place dough on a floured board then roll or pat to 1/2 inch thick. Cut and place biscuits on a cookie sheet.

Bake at 450 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 32 biscuits.
