Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup sugar plus extra for topping
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Cream together the butter, vegetable oil, sugar and powdered sugar. Add the vanilla, then add the eggs one at a time. Mix thoroughly.
Sift the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt together. Mix into the creamed mixture.
Roll teaspoonfuls of the dough into small balls. Place the balls on cookie sheets, sprinkle with sugar and press to flatten with the bottom of a glass.
Bake for 12 minutes at 375 degrees F. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
