White Sauce
Ingredients
For Thin Sauce:
1 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. flour
1 cup milk
1/4 tsp. salt
For Medium Sauce:
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. flour
1 cup milk
1/4 tsp. salt
For Thick Sauce:
3 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. flour
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp. salt
Directions
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour to the butter and blend well. Gradually add the milk then stir constantly until smooth. Let cook until the sauce boils and thickens to desired consistency. Add salt.
Variations
Cheese Sauce: Add 1 cup of grated American cheese.
Horseradish Sauce: Add 2 tablespoons of grated horseradish.
Parsley Sauce: Add 2 tablespoons of minced parsley.
Tomato Sauce: Use an equal amount of tomato juice instead of the milk.
