Fall is coming

And so is my craving for soup!

I don’t know about you, but when the seasons change so does my desire for certain foods. Fall is the time of year that I begin to crave a hot bowl of soup, with or without a sandwich to go with it. As a result of this craving and a co-worker’s request, I’ve just added a recipe for Corn Chowder. You will find it under Side Dishes, Soups.

Make Kung Pao Chicken for a Spicy Weekend

I’ll be cooking this latest recipe this weekend: Kung Pao Chicken

When I mentioned it to my significant other, his face lit up and he said “that’s my favorite!” so I know this will be a hit around here. He simply loves spicy food and so do I when my stomach can handle it. I’ll be serving it with steamed white rice unless I get really industrious and make some fried rice to go with it.

Pineapple & Mango together in a salsa!

The latest addition to the site is a recipe for Pineapple Mango Salsa. This salsa is great used as a dip or as a companion to various foods such as crab cakes. If you like you could spice it up a bit (or a whole lot) by adding cayenne or hot chili peppers.

New recipe

After taking a few days of R&R, I’m back to adding new recipes to the site. The latest addition is Salisbury Steak and I think you will find it super easy to make. Check it out.

Redesign Completed!

Yay! Now I can finally get back to adding more recipes. Hope you enjoy the new look.

Along the way I switched the design and this change allowed me to complete the project much faster than the pace I was previously able to work at. I also think that the pages now have a lighter and brighter appearance.

Actually I still have some minor things to touch up, but there’s not anything that will get in the way of adding new content to the site. As always in the past, watch this blog to find out about the new recipes that have just arrived. They’ll be coming real soon!

Moving along

Hello everyone! I sincerely hope that your holiday season has been full of fun and warmth. We’ve been busy with a lot of the same and loads of good food here too. Perhaps too much as I feel that I may have to become the salad queen. ;)

Back to the updates. I’m in the midst of the cake section with all sections listed above the cakes finished. I’ve been making small improvements along the way with the goal of making the instructions easier to read and understand.

May the new year that is soon to be upon us all bring all of you the best of your expectations.

Progress

Progress of the modification of the pages is moving along smoothly, although not as fast as I had hoped. I’ve gotten into the “cake” section and expect to be there for a while as it is a large section. In fact, there are a couple of large sections ahead: candy and cookies. I’ve realized that it will easily be well into 2008 before all pages are done.

I just might have to slip in a few new recipes as I go. I’ve still got a lot of them to add. :)

Beef section completed

The “beef” section is completely updated to the new version of the pages. I’ve done one page in the “chicken, turkey” section but have to call it quits for today. It’s getting late.

I have slipped in a few “related” links in some of the recently completed pages as they didn’t take too much time to research and I will continue to do that when time permits. There are still pages that I will have to go back to and add that information, but it will have to wait for now. I have noticed that several visitors are using them so I can only assume that they are useful. That’s a good thing. :)

Coming up for air

Just a progress report on the redesign of Shoebox Recipes.

The redesign is moving along smoothly although it is time consuming. My goal is to do at least six pages per day and more when possible. To speed up the progress I will have to delay adding links to “You might also like:” areas as I’m spending quite a bit of extra time researching those recipes. They will be added, but at a later date. For the record (and as a note to myself) the last page that has these links added is Chopped Beef Patties Deluxe.

At this time I’m in the midst of the “Beef” section. If you look at the list of categories on the very left side of any page, all of the categories that are listed above “Beef” have been completed. I’m simply moving down that list.

As for new recipes, watch this blog. I’ve still got a great many to add to the site and I just might add them at any time. Notice of new additions will appear here. Always.

Pardon the dust

Yes, this desert is dusty but that isn’t the dust I’m speaking of. You may or may have not noticed that Shoebox Recipes is getting a new look. It’s also going the way of being another one of those CSS sites (that’s a good thing by the way).

I hope you like the change. It will be several months before all pages can be converted but never fear - every single page is still in existence and none have been harmed in the process.
