Sonoma Chicken Salad My Way
I’ve just added my own version of Sonoma Chicken Salad to the selection of recipes found under “Green Salads“.
Not too long ago I bought a container of Sonoma Chicken Salad and loved it. I also realized that this would be really easy to make myself using readily available ingredients. I recently made a batch to take to our local church for the weekly ”after service luncheon” where it was a real hit with everyone. The folks couldn’t get enough of it. I think you will enjoy this as much as we do.
New Look Online!
The newest version of the site is now online as of about an hour ago. Today I’m just doing a bit of fine tuning here and there to make sure that everything is working properly. Watch for new recipes to be arriving real soon.
Say Goodbye to Ugly
Soon.Â
I know that the Shoebox Recipes site is rather “unsightly” right now. There are a couple hundred more pages yet to be edited and an unknown quantity of hours to spend and after all that is done a new and much improved look will arrive to the pages. I think you will like it.
Lost and found
I’m not quite sure when these 3 recipes went missing, but I’d venture a guess that it was about 2 years ago during a previous redesign of the site. The three recipes that have returned are:
Creamy Filling
Lady Finger Cake
Lemon Butter Pound Cake
Let’s give them a big welcome back home!
Rebuilt!
Hello everyone. The redesign of Shoebox Recipes has been completed and is up and running. Yay!
I know it’s been a long time coming, but I think every hour spent was well worth the effort. There may still be a few “bugs” that I haven’t located yet but I am on the lookout for them.
At any rate, from this point forward this blog is where you can come to find out what is new on the site. I’ll start right now with one that was just added: Clam Dip
Rice, chicken and vegies all tossed in a pot
This morning I needed to create a dish for my honey to take with him for a weekly luncheon at his church. We weren’t really prepared and there was no time to go shopping to get anything special so I went with what we had on hand. It turned out really good too!
First I cooked some brown rice by using a standard method:
1 cup rice
2-1/2 cups water
Bring the water to a boil then stir in the rice. Allow to simmer for 45 minutes until the water is entirely absorbed.
I then cut up a boneless skinless chicken breast into bite sized pieces. I poured about a tablespoon of olive oil into a large nonstick pot and heated the oil over a medium flame. I added the chicken to the pot and cooked it until done. Next I poured in a can of chicken, rice and vegetable soup and stirred it in. Then I added a bag of frozen mixed vegetables and stirred the mixture, breaking up frozen clumps of vegetables. Over medium-low heat I cooked that mixture until the vegetables were hot. I then mixed in the pot of hot rice and stirred until everything was evenly spread.
I placed the entire mixture into a casserole dish just before he had to leave. The casserole dish was brought home empty! Mission accomplished.

Welcome!
I’ve decided to add a blog to Shoebox Recipes to share some things that are just simply easier to write about in this fashion. So stay tuned to see what I might come up with.
Rebuilding
If you have wondered why you haven’t seen anything new added recently, it’s because I’ve been busily rebuilding the website. I’m hoping that by doing this the pages will load faster and navigation around the site will be less cumbersome.
I’m not sure how soon the new site will be ready for prime time, but it keeps getting closer. It might be a few weeks yet.
